Dayvigo Side Effects: Share Your Experiences

Dayvigo side effects may be so disturbing that the person may not try it their whole life once they have some of the weird side effects.

Some of the weird and common side effects of Dayvigo are mentioned by the manufacturer, as per data collected from various clinical trials.

However, more side effects are recognized after the drug is in the market and people share their experiences.

To elaborate on some of these weird and rare side effects, I collected data from several forums to highlight what side effects are the most common and if there are any rare side effects that have not been mentioned by the manufacturer or not.

About Dayvigo . . .

Dayvigo is a brand name of Lemborexant, a drug that acts on the Orexin-receptors pathway. It blocks the final pathway of the neurons responsible for wakefulness.

Unlike Benzos and other hypnotics, it does not suppress neuronal transmission widely in the brain and may be less likely to have next-day somnolence or other similar effects.

The drug is taken in a dose of 5 mg before going to bed. The maximum dose is 10 mg every night. It should not be taken with other hypnotics, alcohol, or benzodiazepines because of the risk of severe side effects including drowsiness and respiratory depression.

The following side effects were mentioned in the manufacturer’s labeling:

Somnolence or daytime sleepiness, drowsiness, and mental fogginess
Depression and suicidal thoughts
Motor weakness of brief duration with loss of muscle tone, also called Cataplexy
Sleep Paralysis
Sleep Walking and Complex Sleeping Behaviors such as making phone calls, driving, engaging in criminal activities, and having sex while asleep
Headaches including migraine and tension headaches
Fatigue, lethargy, and tiredness
Dizziness
Hallucinations and seeing abnormal things
Nightmares
Abnormal dreams
Nausea and vomiting

Dayvigo’s Impact on Sleep in Real-Life Scenario:

We collected data from 133 patients from various platforms but mostly from Reddit. The results are summarized here:

Dayvigo Sleep Responses:

Out of a total of 133 responses, 97 (72.9%) responded positively in terms of better sleep quality, sleep duration, and rapid sleep induction after taking Dayvigo.

21% of the respondents voted negatively and did not recommend Dayvigo because of either weird side effects or because of lack of efficacy.

6% of participants had a 50/50 response. They either had a good response initially and the effect faded or had a better sleep but simultaneously had weird side effects.

Side effects of Dayvigo were so common that even among the 72.9% of respondents who had a good nighttime sleep, only 63.7% were satisfied with the results.

In the manufacturer’s labeling, the most common side effects were somnolence, headache, and fatigue.

Out of the 133 responses, 82 (61.6%) of the participants did not report any side effects. Most participants who had side effects reported more than one side effect. Side effects were more common when a higher dose of 10 mg was initiated directly or when 5 mg or 10 mg of Dayvigo was used in combination with alcohol or another sleeping pill.

Out of the 81 responses, the following side effects were the most commonly reported.

Most patients reported having vivid dreams which were very different from the normal dreams they used to have and were very realistic.

Sleep paralysis was common, affecting 29% of the 51 patients who had side effects. Nightmares were differently reported. Some patients reported as if a demon was assaulting them.

Somnolence, fatigue, and hallucinations were also commonly reported.
